Aldine

Aldine is a census-designated place in unincorporated central Harris County, inside Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction rather than a city of its own. It was built on the International–Great Northern Railroad line and had a post office from 1896 to 1935. Today it sits on the Hardy Toll Road, the Union Pacific Railroad and FM 525, near George Bush Intercontinental Airport. In its early years it was a small farming settlement: in 1914 it had two general stores, a fig preserver and several poultry breeders and dairymen. Aldine ISD serves the CDP and much of the surrounding community, and was integrated by federal order in 1965. Aldine first appeared as a census-designated place in the 1980 census.
