Fulshear

Fulshear is a city in northwestern Fort Bend County, on the western edge of the Houston metro, at the intersection of FM 359 and FM 1093 — about 33 miles west of downtown Houston and seven miles south of I-10 at Brookshire. It is named for Churchill Fulshear, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, who received a Mexican land grant on 16 July 1824 and established a plantation. The town itself grew around the railroad: in 1888 Churchill Fulshear Jr. granted the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad a right of way through the plantation, and the railroad platted the townsite in 1890. Fulshear stayed a rural agricultural town into the 1970s and incorporated in 1977.
